FAQ
What certification do I need for Abu Dabbab?
Open Water certification is sufficient. Abu Dabbab is a shallow, sandy bay with maximum depths of 18–20 meters. It is ideal for beginners and snorkellers. No strong currents are present.
When is the best time to visit Abu Dabbab?
Abu Dabbab is excellent year-round. The dugong and turtles are resident. Winter months (December–February) have slightly cooler water around 22 °C, while summer reaches 29 °C. The bay is sheltered, ensuring calm conditions.
What is special about Abu Dabbab?
Abu Dabbab is one of the very few places in the Red Sea where you can encounter a resident dugong (sea cow). This gentle herbivore feeds on the seagrass beds in the shallow bay. Green sea turtles are also abundant and very accustomed to divers and snorkellers.
What certification is needed for Brothers Islands?
Advanced Open Water with significant open-water experience is the minimum. Many operators require 50+ logged dives. Strong currents, deep walls, and pelagic sharks demand confident, experienced divers. Night dives and wreck penetration add additional requirements.
When is the best time to dive the Brothers Islands?
April to November is the main season. The Brothers are weather-dependent — rough seas can prevent diving entirely. June to August offers the calmest conditions. Thresher shark sightings peak from May to October.
