FAQ
What is the dive profile like?
The thila top sits at about 8 m with the base at 25 m. A typical dive spirals around the pinnacle, starting deep and ascending to spend the longest time at the richest coral sections.
How do you get to Lhaviyani Atoll?
Lhaviyani Atoll is accessible by seaplane from Male (about 35 minutes) or by liveaboard. Several resorts in the atoll offer diving at Fushifaru Thila as part of their regular dive programmes.
What makes this thila different from others?
Fushifaru Thila is known for its exceptionally healthy hard coral coverage on the top, providing a beautiful garden-like setting. It is also one of the more reliable sites in Lhaviyani for turtle encounters.
What are the wrecks at Shipyard?
Two cargo vessels rest on a sandy bottom at approximately 20–30 m. They have been underwater long enough to be extensively colonised by hard and soft corals, creating artificial reefs teeming with marine life.
Can you penetrate the wrecks?
Limited penetration is possible in some areas where the structure is intact and openings are large enough. However, most of the interest is on and around the exterior, where coral growth and marine life are concentrated.
