Gnaviyani Atoll dive sites

Diving with tiger sharks at Fuvahmulah is conducted by experienced local operators who follow strict safety protocols developed over years of daily tiger shark encounters. Divers remain on the reef or at designated depth levels while the sharks swim in the water column nearby. There is no feeding or baiting involved. The sharks at this site are habituated to diver presence and display calm, predictable behaviour. However, tiger sharks are large apex predators and all participants must follow guide instructions precisely. Only certified advanced divers with significant open water experience are accepted, and most operators require a minimum of 100 logged dives.

Fuvahmulah is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the Maldives, located in the far south. It is reached by domestic flight from Male's Velana International Airport, with the flight taking approximately 70 minutes. Several daily flights operate on the route. Dive operators on Fuvahmulah offer accommodation packages including airport transfers, diving, and meals. Unlike resort-based diving in the Maldives, Fuvahmulah operators are guesthouse-based. The island has a small harbour from which dive boats depart, with Tiger Shark Point located just minutes from shore.
