About the Vessel

MV Wind Dancer is a veteran Cocos Island expedition vessel operated by the Undersea Hunter Group. Her 36-hour crossing from Puntarenas is rewarded with some of the planet's most spectacular diving — massive hammerhead schools, whale sharks, tiger sharks, and manta rays at this remote Pacific island.

Given the amount they charge and compared to other LOBs that I’ve been on, this ship is small and it’s facilities are old and rather uncomfortable. For example, some people in our party booked a suite and ended up with bunk beds. That said, they have wonderful dive masters and crew which really helps.

I’ve had three opportunities to dive with the Undersea Hunter Group at Isla del Coco — 2001, 2019 and 2022. On every occasion I was blown away by the quality and professionalism of their operation. Staff, facilities, equipment, (and not to mention the diving) are first rate. Every time the staff has taken care of us both in and out of the water. Operating a dive boat at Isla del Coco, being 36 hours from land, has unique challenges and the Undersea Hunter Group is prepared for them all. They perform nearly excessive safety checks, have full complements of redundant backup equipment, and contingency plans for all events. Our trips have had very few interruptions or issues, but when anything arose we were kept well informed and things were resolved quickly — and to be sure, we’re talking about things like weather or other out of their hands externalities. I’d dive again with the Undersea Hunter Group again in a heart beat. Isla del Coco is a true treasure and should be on every diver’s bucket list. And if you want to really just go over the top, they have a deep sea submersible you can take a dive in!

Absolutely recommended. Attention to detail is the first concept that comes to mind when I think about the tour I just did with them. The guest cabins are nicely furnished and spacious, the common areas are always clean and the dive deck has designated areas for each diver to keep all their gear. The crew guides you every step of the way always giving realistic expectations both of the dives as to any process during the trip. There's free laundry service, 3 full meals a day, snacks and fruit after every dive and beer and sodas are included. Ask the crew for any help and they go out of the way to provide it.

I have been with undersea hunter group twice in COCOS Island. This is a wonderful place that I definitely recommend to visit, the dives are very safe, the sea life is wonderful and the landscape of the island make this place a completely paradise on earth. In terms of the service, I only have good comments, the ship facilities, the crew friendliness, how the dives are planned to meet all safety requirements and have the best and greatest dive experience ever. From the moment you book your trip till you reach the island and come back to the shore, the entire undersea hunter members make you fill incredible with all the passion, preparation and logistics to facilitate this wonderful experience. I would definitely come back to COCOS Island not one but as many times as possible and without any doubt and hesitation I will do it with Undersea Hunter Group.

The First Class Experience of a Lifetime. Cocos Island may very well be the best big animal dive destination on Earth. The remote location of the island in the migration pattern of the Galapagos, coupled with the perfect storm of deep-to-shallow volcanic atoll and nutrient rich currents makes this the place to see large pelagic travelers. The crew, every single one of them, understands service. The dive guides know how to put you in the middle of the action and their cool competence inspires confidence - an important thing when diving with sharks. Seriously, every detail of this live-aboard operation has been tweaked to provide a level of transparent and friendly service normally only found in fine exclusive hotels. Amazing in every way!
