Pink Beach

Pink Beach on the southern coast of Komodo Island combines one of Indonesia's most photogenic beaches with excellent shallow reef diving. The beach gets its distinctive pink colour from fragments of red organ pipe coral mixed with the white sand, creating a surreal setting that is as beautiful above water as below. The reef extends directly from the beach, beginning in just a metre or two of water and sloping gently to about 20 metres, making it accessible via an easy shore entry that eliminates the need for a boat dive. The coral coverage is impressive for such a shallow site — dense hard coral gardens in the shallows give way to mixed hard and soft coral formations as the depth increases. Table corals, branching corals, and massive corals provide habitat for a diverse community of reef fish, from clouds of chromis and damselfish to larger sweetlips and groupers hiding in crevices. Sea turtles are commonly seen grazing on the reef or resting in the shallows. The calm, sheltered conditions make Pink Beach ideal for beginners, discovery divers, and snorkellers, while the reef's photogenic quality attracts underwater photographers looking for vibrant, naturally lit compositions. Beyond the reef, the deeper sand slopes occasionally attract reef sharks and eagle rays. Pink Beach is a highlight of Komodo day trips and liveaboard itineraries, offering a unique combination of world-class topside scenery and rewarding underwater exploration.
