Maaya Fushi Corner

Maaya Fushi Corner is a thrilling wall dive located at the junction of the outer reef and a channel in North Ari Atoll. The site's exposed position creates a natural gathering point for grey reef sharks, which congregate here to feed in the nutrient-rich currents flowing through the channel. The dive begins along a wall that drops steeply from the reef top at around 5 metres to well beyond 30 metres. The wall is decorated with sea fans, black coral trees, and soft corals, while overhangs at various depths shelter groupers and soldierfish. As divers reach the corner where the wall meets the channel, the real spectacle begins. Grey reef sharks patrol the blue water in loose formations, sometimes numbering a dozen or more. They ride the current effortlessly, occasionally darting toward the reef to investigate prey. Eagle rays glide past with slow wingbeats, and schools of yellowfin tuna and barracuda flash through the deeper water. Napoleon wrasse are regular attendees at the corner, and whitetip reef sharks rest on ledges below. The dive is best executed with a reef hook, allowing divers to clip in at the corner and enjoy the pelagic parade without fighting the current. After releasing, divers typically drift along the channel wall, gradually ascending through fields of hard coral to the safety stop. The combination of dramatic topography and reliable shark encounters makes Maaya Fushi Corner one of North Ari Atoll's most exciting dives.
