About this center
Werner Lau Diving Center at Soma Bay is part of the Werner Lau worldwide dive center network, a German-founded chain with locations across the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, and Southeast Asia. Based at the luxury Kempinski Hotel on the Soma Bay peninsula, the center combines high-end resort facilities with excellent Red Sea diving.
The Soma Bay house reef is one of the finest on the Egyptian Red Sea coast. Accessed via a long jetty, it features a dramatic drop-off with healthy hard and soft corals, resident turtles, eagle rays, and impressive fish life. The reef's sheltered position means excellent conditions even when weather affects other areas.
Boat trips extend to the offshore reefs and wrecks of the Safaga/Soma Bay corridor. Panorama Reef, with its spectacular walls and pelagic encounters, is a regular destination. The Salem Express wreck, Middle Reef, and Abu Kafan offer additional variety for experienced divers.
As an SSI-affiliated center, Werner Lau Soma Bay offers courses from introductory through advanced recreational levels, primarily in German and English. The center is especially popular with German-speaking divers who appreciate the familiar Werner Lau service standards and language comfort.
The Kempinski partnership provides access to five-star facilities including multiple pools, spa services, and fine dining. Equipment is well maintained with Mares and Scubapro gear. Nitrox fills are available for certified divers, and the center runs specialty courses including the popular SSI Perfect Buoyancy program.
