Werner Lau Diving Center Bathala is a long-established SSI dive center at the Sandies Bathala resort on Bathala Island in North Ari Atoll. Bathala has been a legendary diver's island since the early days of Maldives tourism, known for its exceptional house reef and proximity to world-class dive sites. The center is part of the Werner Lau Diving Centers network, a German-based diving company with decades of experience operating centers worldwide. The house reef surrounding the small 150x300m island drops into deep water and is home to an abundance of marine life including reef sharks, turtles, and schools of barracuda. North Ari Atoll offers some of the Maldives' best diving with regular encounters with hammerhead sharks, manta rays, and whale sharks. The center runs courses under SSI and i.a.c. (CMAS) guidelines, with German and English-speaking instructors. Popular dive sites include Maaya Thila, Fish Head, and Halaveli Wreck.
