South Florida Diving Headquarters

South Florida Diving Headquarters operates from Pompano Beach, providing easy access to the dense concentration of natural and artificial reefs that make this stretch of coastline a diver's paradise. The reef line runs parallel to shore at depths from 10 to 35+ metres, with three distinct reef tracts providing diverse diving at every skill level.

The area is known as one of Florida's top wreck diving destinations, with purpose-sunk artificial reef wrecks including the SS Copenhagen, the Captain Dan, the Okinawa, and the Rodeo 25. These wrecks sit upright on sandy bottoms and are heavily encrusted with corals and sponges, hosting green moray eels, nurse sharks, goliath grouper, and schools of tropical reef fish. The natural reef line features beautiful coral gardens with sea turtles on virtually every dive.

Drift diving is the primary mode here, with the north-flowing current carrying divers along the reef at a comfortable pace. The centre holds PADI and SSI affiliations and offers courses from beginner through technical levels. Night dives and specialty courses in wreck penetration are available for qualified divers.
