About this center
Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village is one of the original dive operations in Sharm el-Sheikh, established in 1995 when the Sharks Bay area was still largely undeveloped. The center sits directly on the bay that gives it its name, with immediate shore access to a thriving house reef that drops off to depths beyond 40 meters.
The facility combines a full-service PADI and SSI dive center with on-site accommodation, a swimming pool for confined water training, and a waterfront restaurant. The house reef is considered one of the best in the Sharm area, featuring healthy hard coral gardens, resident turtles, and occasional reef shark sightings in the deeper sections.
Boat trips depart daily to Ras Mohammed National Park, Tiran Island, and local wrecks including the Thistlegorm. The center operates its own fleet of dive boats equipped with oxygen kits, freshwater showers, and camera rinse tanks. Multilingual instructors cover English, German, Italian, and Russian, making the center popular with a broad European clientele.
Courses run from introductory Discover Scuba programs through professional-level Divemaster training. The on-site equipment room stocks well-maintained rental gear including Aqualung regulators and BCDs, and nitrox fills are available for certified enriched air divers. Night dives on the house reef are a highlight, with Spanish dancer nudibranchs and hunting lionfish regularly seen after dark.
