Services & capabilities
About this center
North Queensland's largest reef operator with daily catamaran services from Port Douglas to a permanent platform at Agincourt Reef since 1979.
Quicksilver Cruises is the largest and most recognised reef tourism operator in tropical North Queensland, running daily high-speed catamaran services from Port Douglas to a permanent floating platform anchored at Agincourt Reef on the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef since 1979. The Quicksilver platform provides a stable base from which guests can access the reef via diving, snorkelling, semi-submersible tours, and an underwater observatory.
The high-speed wavepiercing catamaran covers the distance from Port Douglas to Agincourt Reef in approximately ninety minutes, delivering guests to the outer reef where clear oceanic waters provide visibility that often exceeds twenty metres. The permanent platform includes a large sundeck, freshwater showers, changing rooms, and all the facilities needed for a comfortable day on the reef. Certified divers can enjoy guided dives directly from the platform, while introductory dives allow non-certified visitors to experience their first underwater breaths under professional supervision.
For non-swimmers and children, the semi-submersible vessel cruises beneath the surface for eye-level reef viewing, and the underwater observatory provides dry viewing of coral gardens and marine life. A marine biologist delivers informative presentations about the reef ecosystem and leads guided snorkel tours. The buffet lunch features tropical cuisine, and all snorkelling equipment including lycra suits is provided. Quicksilver's scale allows competitive pricing while maintaining high safety standards and offering the widest range of reef activities available on any single day trip from Port Douglas.
