About this center
Olympus Dive Center in Morehead City has been the gateway to North Carolina's legendary wreck diving since 1976. Located in the heart of the Graveyard of the Atlantic — where an estimated 2,000 ships have been lost — the centre operates daily dive charters to some of the most dramatic shipwrecks on the US East Coast.
The signature dive is the U-352, a German WWII submarine sunk in 1942, resting at 35 metres in clear, warm Gulf Stream water. Other regular wreck sites include the Caribsea, W.E. Hutton, Aeolus, and Atlas. These wrecks are home to massive populations of sand tiger sharks — encounters with dozens of these impressive predators are the norm, not the exception. Night dives offer especially intimate shark encounters without any baiting or artificial attraction.
As a PADI training centre, Olympus offers courses from Open Water through Instructor level, with special emphasis on wreck and technical diving. The centre's custom-built boats depart daily from mid-May through October, with weekend trips in April and November. Summer water temperatures reach 24-27°C with visibility averaging 23+ metres on offshore wrecks. The centre also operates Olympus Dive Lodge for visiting divers, and is a SCUBAPRO Platinum Dealer with full equipment service.
