About this center
Diving Ocean Nuweiba is one of the few dive operations in this peaceful Bedouin town on the Gulf of Aqaba's western shore. Nuweiba sits approximately 70 kilometers north of Dahab, offering a quieter, more authentic Sinai experience far from the tourist crowds.
All diving is shore-based, with the center's house reef accessible directly from Tarabin Beach. The reef features a gentle slope leading to deeper walls, with hard coral gardens that are less visited and consequently better preserved than those in busier areas. The narrow Gulf of Aqaba creates unique conditions, with deep water close to shore and occasional sightings of open-water species including dolphins and whale sharks.
The center offers PADI courses from Discover Scuba through Advanced Open Water in English, German, and Arabic. Freediving programs are also available, taking advantage of the calm, deep waters close to shore. The relaxed pace makes Nuweiba ideal for learners who prefer a less commercial environment.
Nuweiba's diving is characteristically different from Sharm or Dahab. The reefs are less documented but often surprisingly rich, with pristine coral growth undisturbed by heavy diver traffic. Night dives reveal a different world of nocturnal creatures including octopus, basket stars, and sleeping parrotfish.
Accommodation in Nuweiba ranges from Bedouin-style camps to comfortable hotels. The town retains a genuine Egyptian character and serves as a base for desert excursions into the Sinai interior, adding cultural depth to a dive holiday.
