About this center
Dive Alaska offers a truly unique experience — cold-water diving in the pristine waters of Prince William Sound, surrounded by glaciers, mountains, and some of the richest marine ecosystems in the northern Pacific. This is adventure diving at its finest, for those seeking something far beyond tropical reef experiences.
Prince William Sound's nutrient-rich waters support an extraordinary density of marine life. Dives feature encounters with giant Pacific octopus (the world's largest octopus species), wolf eels, king crab, sea stars in every colour, and massive kelp forests. Sea otters, harbour seals, and Steller sea lions are regular surface companions, while underwater the rocky walls are carpeted with anemones, hydroids, and colourful nudibranchs.
The centre specialises in dry suit diving and provides full cold-water equipment. Guided dive trips visit sites around Whittier, Valdez, and the outer islands of Prince William Sound. Water temperatures range from 4-12°C depending on season and depth. Visibility varies from 5-20 metres. The season runs May through September, with the longest days and warmest water in June-August. This is diving for the adventurous — challenging conditions rewarded with extraordinary marine life encounters.
