Deep Sea Divers Den

Deep Sea Divers Den has been a cornerstone of the Cairns diving scene since 1974, operating as one of the city's original and most experienced PADI 5-Star IDC dive centres. Located on Draper Street in the heart of Cairns, the centre operates a fleet of modern vessels offering both day trips and multi-day liveaboard expeditions to the Great Barrier Reef, catering to everyone from first-time snorkellers to seasoned divers.

The day trip vessel OceanQuest serves as a permanently moored pontoon at the outer reef, providing a stable platform from which guests can dive and snorkel directly onto pristine coral gardens. This unique arrangement allows for extended reef time without the long boat ride each day. The centre also operates liveaboard trips of two and three nights, reaching the spectacular outer reef sites of Norman Reef, Saxon Reef, and Hastings Reef where marine life includes reef sharks, turtles, giant clams, and an astonishing diversity of coral species.

As a PADI 5-Star IDC Centre, Deep Sea Divers Den runs the complete range of courses from beginner introductions through to Instructor Development Courses. The multilingual staff includes Japanese and Chinese-speaking instructors, reflecting the international clientele that Cairns attracts. On-site facilities include a training pool, well-stocked retail shop, and budget accommodation for backpackers and course students. The centre's longevity and safety record speak to nearly five decades of responsible reef tourism and diver training.
