About this center
PADI dive center in Tonsai, Koh Phi Phi. Specializing in extended trips to Hin Daeng and Hin Muang alongside daily Bida and Shark Point diving.
Barakuda Dive Center is a PADI dive center in Tonsai Village on Koh Phi Phi that distinguishes itself through regular extended day trips to Hin Daeng and Hin Muang, the Andaman Sea's most legendary deep-water pinnacles. While most Phi Phi dive centers focus primarily on the nearby Bida islands and Shark Point, Barakuda makes the longer journey south to these remote sites a signature part of its weekly schedule.
Hin Daeng, the red rock, rises from the deep ocean floor with vertical walls encrusted in brilliant crimson soft corals that give the site its name. The wall drops beyond one hundred meters, and the nutrient-rich currents sweeping past attract oceanic manta rays that visit cleaning stations along the upper sections. Hin Muang, the purple rock, lies nearby and is considered one of Thailand's deepest walls, draped in luxurious purple and violet soft coral growth. Together, these twin pinnacles represent bucket-list dives for many Andaman Sea visitors, and Barakuda's regular departures provide reliable access from the Phi Phi Islands.
The standard daily program covers the closer Phi Phi sites that form the foundation of any dive trip to the area. Bida Nok and Bida Nai offer consistent encounters with blacktip reef sharks, moray eels, and dense soft coral walls. Shark Point delivers leopard shark sightings on most visits, while the King Cruiser wreck provides wreck diving with prolific fish life including massive schools of snappers and batfish.
PADI courses from Discover Scuba Diving through Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver are available, with specialty courses in Deep Diving, Nitrox, Night Diver, and Drift Diver. The Drift Diver specialty is particularly useful for the current-exposed conditions at Hin Daeng and Hin Muang, where proper drift diving techniques enhance both safety and enjoyment.
The center partners with Tonsai accommodations for dive-and-stay packages and maintains serviced equipment with nitrox available for certified divers.
