Apnea Total

Apnea Total is the world headquarters of the Apnea Total freediving education system, operating from Koh Tao since 2004 and offering a proprietary certification pathway that has trained thousands of freedivers across the globe. Unlike centers that teach under third-party agencies, Apnea Total developed its own complete curriculum from the ground up, emphasizing a holistic approach to breath-hold diving that integrates physical technique, mental conditioning, equalization mastery, and deep relaxation.

The school's presence on Koh Tao is no accident. The island's warm waters, calm sheltered bays with quick depth access, excellent visibility, and year-round diving conditions make it one of the best natural classrooms for freediving anywhere in the world. Training takes place primarily from shore at carefully selected bay sites where depths of twenty to forty meters are accessible within a short swim from the beach.

The Apnea Total system progresses through numbered levels, from Level 1 fundamentals through Level 2 and Level 3 for advanced depth work, culminating in instructor certification for those who wish to teach the system professionally. Each level builds systematically on the previous one, with clear performance standards and thorough safety protocols. The teaching emphasizes comfort and enjoyment at depth rather than competitive performance, though many students find their capabilities far exceed their initial expectations.

The international instructor team includes competitive freedivers and experienced educators who bring elite-level understanding of human aquatic performance.
