What certification is needed for Chumphon Pinnacle?

Advanced Open Water certification is recommended. The pinnacles drop to 36+ meters, and currents can be strong. The site is best suited for experienced divers. Open Water divers can enjoy shallower sections with a guide.

When is the best time to dive Chumphon Pinnacle?

March to October during the Gulf of Thailand's calm season. Whale sharks are most commonly seen from March to May. Bull sharks appear periodically throughout the season. Visibility ranges from 5 to 25 meters.

What makes Chumphon Pinnacle special?

Chumphon Pinnacle is a group of granite pinnacles northwest of Koh Tao, hosting the island's best big-animal encounters. Whale sharks and bull sharks are the main draws, along with enormous schools of batfish and barracuda that swirl around the pinnacles.

What certification do I need to dive the HTMS Chang?

Advanced Open Water certification is the minimum requirement since the deck sits at around 18 meters and the seabed is at 30 meters. The HTMS Chang (LCT-713) was a US-built LST-class landing craft that served in the Royal Thai Navy for decades. After decommissioning, the Thai Navy cleaned and prepared the 100-meter vessel for sinking as an artificial reef. It was sunk on November 22, 2012, specifically to create a world-class dive attraction for Koh Chang.
