While Siargao is internationally famous for surfing, particularly the Cloud 9 break, the island also offers rewarding diving that is only beginning to be discovered. The reefs around small offshore islands like Guyam, Naked, and Daku are in good condition due to minimal dive tourism pressure. The diving is relatively shallow and easy, making it ideal for beginners or experienced divers looking for relaxed reef exploration between surf sessions.

The best diving conditions at Guyam Island are from March to October when the northeast monsoon has subsided and seas are calmer on the eastern side of Siargao. Visibility is typically best from April to June. The surf season from September to November brings larger swells that can affect boat operations and underwater visibility. Diving is possible year-round but conditions vary significantly with the monsoon seasons.

Several dive shops operate in General Luna, the main tourist town on Siargao. They offer day trips to Guyam Island and other nearby sites. The boat ride from General Luna to Guyam takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Diving in Siargao is still developing compared to established Philippine dive destinations, so operations tend to be smaller and more personalized. Equipment rental and certification courses are available.
