The Tugboat rests in just 5 metres (about 15 feet) of water, making it one of the shallowest wreck dives in the Caribbean. It sits on a sandy bottom about 50 metres from shore and is easily reached by swimming from Tugboat Beach in Caracas Bay.
Can you snorkel the Tugboat wreck?
Absolutely. The Tugboat is one of the best snorkelling wrecks in the Caribbean because of its shallow depth. From the surface you can see the entire wreck clearly, including the dense coral and sponge growth covering it. The calm, sheltered bay and clear water make conditions ideal.
How do you get to the Tugboat dive site in Curacao?
The Tugboat is accessed from Tugboat Beach in Caracas Bay (Caracasbaai), on the southeast coast of Curacao near Willemstad. There is a small entrance fee for the beach. The wreck is a short 50-metre swim from shore, marked by three square steel buoys on the surface.
