Premuda is reached by dive boat from Zadar, which takes approximately 90 minutes, or from the closer island of Silba. Most dive operators in Zadar run day trips to Premuda when weather permits, and the journey itself passes through beautiful open Adriatic waters. There is no resident dive centre on the island, so all diving is arranged from the mainland.

Advanced Open Water certification is recommended as the most dramatic wall sections extend below 30 metres. Experienced Open Water divers can enjoy the shallower reef areas between 10 and 18 metres. Strong currents can develop around the island's exposed points, so good buoyancy control and drift diving experience are valuable.

The diving season runs from May to October, with peak conditions from June through September when water temperatures reach 22 to 25 degrees and visibility regularly exceeds 30 metres. The island's exposed position means that weather windows are important, and dive operators monitor forecasts carefully before making the crossing from Zadar.
