Safety first

Our safety commitment

DiveOne is a recreational dive tracking tool. We take your safety seriously and want to be completely transparent about what we do and don't do.

DiveOne is not a certified dive computer. It does not replace professional diving equipment, training, or judgment. Never rely on DiveOne as your sole source of dive safety information.

What we promise

  • Accurate depth and temperature readings from Apple Watch Ultra hardware sensors.
  • Reliable dive logging so you have a record of every session.
  • Clear, honest communication about what the app can and cannot do.
  • Continuous improvements based on diver feedback and testing.

What we do NOT promise

  • Decompression calculations or no-decompression limit tracking.
  • Replacement for certified dive computers or professional equipment.
  • Medical or physiological safety assessments.
  • Rescue or emergency features beyond what Apple Watch provides natively.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Real scenarios. Structured answers. No hand-waving.

Symptom

Watch battery dies underwater

What DiveOne does

Data up to battery depletion is already saved to persistent storage. Session marked as 'interrupted'.

What you should do

Surface using your primary dive computer. Start dives with 30%+ battery.

Recovery

When Watch powers on, dive log is preserved. Sync to iPhone via Bluetooth.

Symptom

App crashes during a dive

What DiveOne does

Data is written continuously to storage, not just at dive end. All data before crash is preserved.

What you should do

Continue your dive using primary equipment. Restart DiveOne when safe.

Recovery

Reopen app — crash-recovery restores the session. Depth gauge keeps working regardless of app state.

Symptom

Bluetooth sync between Watch and iPhone fails

What DiveOne does

Dive data stays safely on the Watch. The Watch is the source of truth.

What you should do

Keep both devices nearby. Try manual sync from the Watch app.

Recovery

Data syncs automatically when connection is restored. No data loss from sync failures.

Symptom

Switching to a new iPhone

What DiveOne does

Watch retains all dive data independently of the paired iPhone.

What you should do

Export CSV before switching as a backup. Pair Watch with new iPhone.

Recovery

DiveOne data on Watch syncs to the new phone automatically after pairing.

Symptom

No internet connection available

What DiveOne does

Operates fully offline. All tracking, logging, and storage is local.

What you should do

Nothing. DiveOne never requires internet for core functionality.

Recovery

Internet only needed if you choose to email or share exported CSV files.

Where DiveOne fits in your safety setup

A clear line between primary safety equipment and supplementary tools.

Primary safety equipment (not us)

Your life depends on certified, tested, and maintained dive equipment. DiveOne is not part of this category.

  • Certified dive computer (EN 13319 or equivalent)
  • BCD, regulator, and backup air source
  • Dive training and certification
  • Qualified dive buddy

Supplementary logging tool (us)

DiveOne sits here: a recording and logging companion that runs alongside your primary equipment.

  • Dive log with depth profile, time, and temperature
  • Automatic session recording on Apple Watch Ultra
  • Data export for personal records and instructor review
  • Offline operation — no dependency on external services

What DiveOne will never be

  • A certified dive computer (we do not calculate decompression)
  • A replacement for professional diving equipment
  • A medical or physiological safety assessment tool
  • A gas mix analyzer or no-decompression limit tracker
  • An emergency or rescue device

Our safety recommendations

1

Always dive within your training and certification limits.

2

Use a certified dive computer as your primary safety device.

3

Never dive alone. Always have a qualified buddy.

4

Check your equipment before every dive.

5

If in doubt, don't dive. No log entry is worth your safety.
