Your data

Your dive data, your rules

We believe your dive data belongs to you. Here's exactly where it lives, how it moves, and how to get it back.

Where your data lives

Exact locations. No ambiguity.

Location

Apple Watch (local)

Contains

Raw dive data: depth profile, temperature log, timestamps, GPS entry point

Persistence

Persists through app restarts, Watch reboots. Independent of iPhone.

Risk

Lost only if Watch hardware fails permanently before sync

Location

iPhone (local)

Contains

Complete dive history: all synced logs, depth profiles, export-ready data

Persistence

Persists through app updates. Survives iPhone restarts.

Risk

Lost if app deleted AND Watch companion removed simultaneously

Location

Cloud (optional)

Contains

HealthKit data only — if you enable HealthKit sync. No DiveOne cloud service exists.

Persistence

Subject to Apple's iCloud/HealthKit retention policies.

Risk

DiveOne has no cloud. We cannot access, lose, or lock your data remotely.

Location

CSV export (always available)

Contains

Full dive history in standard CSV format. Depth, time, temp, GPS, duration.

Persistence

Wherever you save the file. Email, Files app, AirDrop, any destination.

Risk

None — once exported, it's your file on your terms.

Your dive data belongs to you. Always on-device. Always exportable. Always deletable.

Our data principles

On-device storage

Your dive data is stored locally on your iPhone and Apple Watch. We don't upload it to our servers without your explicit consent.

No mandatory account

Use DiveOne without creating an account. No email, no registration, no personal data required to start tracking dives.

Full data export

Export all your dive data in CSV format at any time. Your data is never locked in — take it wherever you want.

No behavioral tracking

We don't track your location, behavior, or usage patterns for advertising purposes. No third-party analytics SDKs.

Recovery playbook

Step-by-step procedures for common scenarios.

New iPhone — how to restore dive logs

1. Pair your Apple Watch with the new iPhone. 2. Install DiveOne from the App Store. 3. Open DiveOne — Watch data syncs automatically via Bluetooth. 4. Verify dive count matches your expectations.
Export CSV before switching as a backup.

Accidentally deleted the app

1. Reinstall DiveOne from the App Store. 2. If Watch companion app is still installed, data syncs back automatically. 3. If Watch companion was also removed, only previously exported CSV files remain.
Periodic CSV exports protect against this scenario.

No iCloud — does it affect DiveOne?

1. DiveOne never requires iCloud. All data is stored locally. 2. HealthKit sync is optional and works independently of iCloud backup. 3. Your dive logs exist on Watch and iPhone only.
No action needed. DiveOne is designed for offline-first operation.

Apple Watch hardware failure

1. Data already synced to iPhone is safe and accessible. 2. Un-synced data on the Watch depends on Apple's service/repair outcome. 3. If Watch is replaced, pair new Watch and continue — iPhone retains all synced history.
Sync regularly and export CSV as backup.

How to export dive data

1. Open DiveOne on iPhone. 2. Go to Settings > Export. 3. Choose CSV format. 4. Save or share via email, AirDrop, or Files app.
Export includes depth profiles, timestamps, temperature, GPS, and duration.
